We are well on our way to our goal. After one week we have 54 members and 88 deviations. That may seem like a little, but it's almost 1/10th of the way there. Thank you everyone. See a list of members and deviations below.

What are we all about?
We are a collection of deviants strongly opposed to the war with Iraq. What we do is compile our deviations protesting the war, and when we collect 1000 deviations we will send them via email to the White House and media stations across the globe. We may not reach 1000 deviations by the time that the war ends, but at least the creation of art has been encouraged, and that is what Deviant Art is all about.

We want everyone out there to now that we are in FULL SUPPORT of the AMERICAN AND ALLIED FORCES in Iraq fighting the war. Although we are opposed to the war itself, we respect the lives of the soldiers and PRAY FOR THEIR SAFETY and their quick homecoming.

Some of the feelings and opinions expressed in the artwork of this community may be noted as extremely controversial. Each person has his or her own opinions, and the AAW does not want to keep people from expressing those. We acknowledge and respect the opinions of everyone, whether you are for or against Operation: Iraqi Freedom. We, being the AAW staff, cannot state specific opinions about the war on such topics as oil, president Bush, weapons inspections, etc. because we want everyone with a voice against the war to be able to come out and speak. It is for this reason that we have not come out and stated a direct and specific opinion on all topics of the war, as many people have asked us to.

There are those who say that this won't work, that it won't change anything. They could very well be right; whoever checks the president’s email may just trash every last one of the emails we send him; they may ignore the letters we send him. The newspapers may not publish our information or website address, they could completely ignore every last protestor, as if the public was nonexistent, but somebody will notice. Somebody out there will see what we’ve done. He doesn’t have to look at all of it. He doesn’t have to agree with it, but he will see it, and he will know that there is a talented group of people out there that know what they’re making, that know what they’re saying, and they have a reason behind their creations. We are the Artists Against War, and this is what we do.

How does it Work?
Anyone can join, and submit any kind of art. To join, simply write a note to AAW stating to that you want to join, along with a link to any deviations that you would like to be included in our compilation. If You Have Already Joined, please say so in your note to us. We do not want to accidentally count your name twice and mess up the count. (Please don’t send comments. They’re just much harder to deal with.)

Deviant Icon Contest
Yeah, so our avatar right now pretty much sucks, no offense Pat. Please help us and design a new avatar with the name Artists Against War on it, and try to make it somewhat broad, so specific opinions other that a basic opposition to the war. Those are the only guidelines. You’re free to do whatever you want within those simple boundaries.You don’t get anything if you win, except your icon is obviously used as the OFFICIAL AAW ICON. That’s good stuff. It’s simple. Send us a link to your icon submission, and maybe you’ll win! However, icons submitted for the sole purpose of this contest cannot be counted in the 1000 deviations. However, if the icon is submitted separately and with obvious changes in appearance that doesn’t make it appear to be advertising AAW, it can be submitted, and will count. (The staff will determine whether or not an altered icon is altered enough.)
